Committed to Consumer Privacy

Protecting consumer privacy and earning consumer trust is essential to Vistrio. We know that continued success in the marketing industry depends on ethical and diligent privacy practices.

Our relationship with our partners, members and clients depends on building trust that we manage information responsibly, securely and with integrity. At Vistrio, we believe we have an important obligation to protect the privacy of all the consumer data we maintain. Our privacy promise incorporates specific practices that include ethical and responsible standards for handling all personal data. These practices provide clients and consumers with the trust and value necessary to build long-term relationships that benefit both parties.

Vistrio manages Travel DynamicsSM, one of the largest repositories of U.S. travel transaction data containing numerous data attributes on every marketable household and individual in the United States. Travel Dynamics is a membership database that organizes and aggregates travel transactions contributed from multiple online and offline providers across the airline, hospitality, car rental, cruise and other travel sectors.

What data is contributed to Travel Dynamics by members?

Members of Travel Dynamics provide a file of customers and their related transactions with updates on a monthly basis.

How is a member's customer data used?

Consumer contact data provided by each member is used for identifying which member's customers match to the Travel Dynamics database. Vistrio employs a complex matching process to identify customers, using name, postal address, phone number, email address, or affinity information. This data is used for matching only. Information about member's customers may be added to the Travel Dynamics Marketing Database if

  • it matches to at least one other source (either publicly available data such as property tax records or another member); and
  • the Members" privacy policy allows a member to share customer data for marketing purposes;
Once a Member's customer has been identified on Travel Dynamics, the corresponding transactions are added to the Travel Dynamics Analytics database.

How is transaction data used?

Vistrio's analytical team uses the transaction data in the Travel Dynamics Analytics database for:

  • Member specific proprietary Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs, such as analyzing or selecting customer groups or segments to support Member programs. For example, a Member may wish to gain greater insight into overall travel behavior of their customers, or they may want to target consumers that look like their best customers, or customers with a high potential to use their product or service.
  • To create aggregate statistics about consumers, such as number of trips taken, type of hotel visited or dollars spent. These aggregated statistics are added to the Travel Dynamics Marketing Database for use by member companies.

What is the Travel Dynamics Marketing Database?

The Travel Dynamics Marketing Database houses consumer postal contact data, demographics, lifestyles, propensities (likely to visit a theme park, likely to take a cruise, etc.), and aggregated travel behaviors. Travel Dynamics is used for marketing applications, such as member analytics, list selection, and propensity data appends to a Member's customer file.

Does Vistrio comply with the DMA Privacy Requirements?

Vistrio complies with the DMA's Privacy Promise, and its four component; notice, honoring opt-out requests, in house suppression, and use of the DMA's preference service. Vistrio works with members of Travel Dynamics to ensure they provide adequate notice to their customers about their privacy policy, that membership in TD is compliant with their privacy policy, and that their privacy policy includes the basics; what information is collected, how it is used, how changes will be communicated, and provides multiple options for the consumer to opt-out of marketing communications. Vistrio maintains an in-house suppression file for member specific and consortium-wide opt-outs, and uses the DMA's Mail, Telephone, and Email Preference Services.

Does Vistrio use financial data?

Vistrio does not accept financial or other sensitive consumer information such as social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, credit reports, credit card numbers, banking information and any other credit-related customer information.
